Rural Enterprise Assistance Program (REAP).

IEDI implemented successfully a program called Rural Enterprise Assistance Program (REAP) with the objective to promote entrepreneurship in rural Nepal through local capacity building model. With the advisory support of SNV/Nepal and financial support from ICCO, Netherlands, REAP I Phase was implemented by IEDI in Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Taplejung, Panchthar and Illam from October, 2002 to September 2009. REAP aimed at reducing poverty in these districts, through the promotion and sustainable development of micro and small enterprises. The program emphasizes on increasing benefits to micro and small entrepreneurs by enhancing the capacity of the stakeholders and partners in promoting micro and small enterprises. In its second phase (October 2005 to December 2008), REAP has given due focus on sub-sector/ value-chain development and social inclusion. Under REAP, IEDI helped in establishing more than 3,000 rural enterprises, created more than 4,500 employment opportunities at the local level and developed capacity of 33 local organization in delivering Business Development Services.
